To media planners, Spotify is just a digital audio platform, and an expensive one at that. Not exactly a must-buy!

But Spotify offers so much more. To entice the brand’s jaded ad buyer and introduce this core audience to its video and multi-format ads, we hacked the most analytical part of the media planning experience — the media plan itself — to create “Spreadbeats,” the first-ever music video coded entirely inside an Excel spreadsheet.

We transformed a simple grid-like structure into a 3D canvas for a fully immersive audio-visual experience, giving our global sales teams the ultimate tool to demonstrate the power of Spotify’s platform. The video was sent directly to media planners — reaching over 200 brands — and as they opened their RFP, they saw their media plan transformed into a four-minute music video set to the music of Coachella-headlining artist John Summit.
